As a nursing student at Cedar Crest, you鈥檒l perform your clinical education in some of the finest, best-equipped laboratory facilities in the region.
Our Nursing Learning Resource Center includes:
- Five聽well-resourced clinical skills labs.聽In the Health Assessment Lab鈥攁 setting similar to a doctor鈥檚 office鈥攜ou鈥檒l learn basic skills such as listening to the heart and lungs and taking blood pressure. In the Center for Maternal/Child Health you鈥檒l learn how to assess and care for infants, toddlers and adolescents. The Center for Adult Health simulates a hospital setting complete with medication and utility room. You can video record yourself practicing and mastering more advanced nursing skills.
- Several high-fidelity simulation manikins.聽In each of the clinical simulation labs, you鈥檒l be able to practice real-life clinical scenarios using cutting-edge simulation manikins of various genders, conditions and ages from infant to adult. One of our high-fidelity simulation manikins can even simulate a pregnant woman giving birth.
- A Community Health Lab set up to replicate a home environment.聽Here you鈥檒l have the opportunity to role-play caregiving in the patient鈥檚 home, with all its various issues and distractions.聽 Standardized patient actors are used to increase the realism of the scenarios.
- Five simulation labs with streaming video and separate control rooms.聽You鈥檒l work with realistic and interactive 鈥減atients,鈥 a high-fidelity simulator manikin with variable breathing, heartbeat and other signs. As students apply care techniques based on the scenario they鈥檙e working with, a faculty member can control the manikin鈥檚 reactions in response.
- Three student lounges and four flexible classroom and meeting spaces.
