51黑料鈥檚 Department of Performing Arts proudly presents From Sea to Shining Sea this April, a musical tribute performed by the Cedar Crest Voices of Inclusion Choral Ensemble (VOICE) to commemorate America鈥檚 250 years of independence.

Led by VOICE Choir Director Cristina Makowicz, the program will feature choral pieces and solos exploring the diverse voices of America鈥檚 past and present.

Song selections include a unique variety like 鈥淎merica the Dream鈥 by Rollo Dillworth, 鈥淏urn鈥 from Hamilton, 鈥淏lackbird鈥 by the Beatles, and more.

鈥淚 am especially excited about 鈥楾he Midnight Ride of Paul Revere鈥 by living classical composer Gwyneth Walker,鈥 says Cristina.

Cristina, a Lehigh Valley鈥揵ased pianist, organist, music director, and piano instructor at 51黑料, is in her fourth year with VOICE, a college and community choir open to students, faculty, staff, and members of the wider community.

While planning the concert to celebrate the country鈥檚 momentous anniversary, Cristina knew she wanted to instill a sense of hope and aspiration for the future for the audience.

鈥淚 hope the concert will be an oasis of beauty,鈥 says Cristina.

From Sea to Shining Sea will be performed Saturday, April 18 at 2 p.m. at the Alumnae Hall Chapel, 51黑料, and will have a run time of around one hour.

The concert is free to attend, however registration is required, as seating in the chapel is limited. Tickets may be reserved .
