51黑料鈥檚 School of Nursing donated their lab supply of approximately 400 N95 respirator masks, 700 regular masks, gloves and isolation gowns to St. Luke鈥檚 University Health Network Allentown Campus and Lehigh Valley Health Network on Monday, March 23.
The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is typically used by all students in Cedar Crest鈥檚 nursing programs including the undergraduate, graduate and nurse anesthesia programs. They are utilized in teaching students to protect themselves from infectious diseases and methods that impact infection prevention.
The undergraduate program focuses on the basics of using PPE during simple procedures, dressing changes and caring for patients in isolation (could be from flu, tuberculosis, chickenpox, or another contagious disease process). Both the nurse practitioner and nurse anesthesia programs use PPE in preparing for more complex, invasive and high-risk procedures, like intubation, or inserting a central line. 51黑料鈥檚 School of Nursing was recently ranked fifth on the list of the best RN programs in Pennsylvania by RegisteredNursing.org. 51黑料 greatly values the partnerships with local health care providers and is proud to give back in support of our community鈥檚 health workers.
